One Last Look

By now, more than 24 hours have passed since Barack Obama was inaugurated for a second term, so this video (and gifs of this video) have circulated around all the social networks. But I can’t help but return to this footage over and over, to try to imagine what is going through Obama’s head at that point in time when he knows he’ll never see this kind of crowd, all cheering in the freezing cold for him. The look on his face – of humility, melancholy, and fleeting pleasure – is so relatable.
This is just a magical moment that I want to record on my blog for my own record. Thanks for allowing me one last look.
