Hi, I’m Melanie Renzulli. I’m thrilled that you want to get to know me better.
If you’ve checked out my books or bylines pages, you’ll know that I am a freelance travel, food, and culture writer. I’ve been writing for print and online publication for more than a decade because I love sharing my adventures – and, yes, misadventures – with readers. I started this blog in 2004 to give myself a place to tell my (mostly travel) stories and started my Italy travel blog Italofile in 2006. Both blogs have not only given me a place for self-expression, but they have also helped me build up my writing samples and have, in turn, led to assignments for many awesome publications.
Thanks be to blogs.
I am also an online community builder, a social media and website usability consultant, and a tech geek. I love trying out new websites, social media platforms, and gadgets, and enjoy writing about technology on this blog. Do you have an app, gadget, or website that you’d like reviewed? Drop me a note and I’ll consider it.
Finally, I am a mother. While I don’t consider myself a “mommy blogger” – and I lament that that term has taken on so many negative connotations in the writing world – I cannot deny that aspect of my background. I am mom to two sons – one of them on the spectrum – and occasionally feel the need to write about life as the parent of an autistic child. I’m working on building an autism-related Tumblr blog at spectrumstories.com and I welcome any media inquiries about the subjects of parenting and autism.
Are you looking for my online resume? I’ve created one here.
